Brazilianisms - Mar 7, 2008
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Kinsey (formerly of Tvindy Time) got married and moved to Brazil. Now he does a weekly show about the country and his life there with Brazilian co-host Milton. Each episode covers a specific theme, such as food, as well as Kinsey's personal experiences, and the hosts are not afraid of going off topic. Dismay - Aug 21, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Truly unique! This is a serialized first-person tale of a mystical Canadian superhero. The bulk of it is taken up by highly lyrical music interspersed between narrative segments, with the songs capturing both the current mood and topic of the storyline. Uncle Seth Blog and Podcast - Aug 20, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Uncle Seth (no relation to Uncle Bob)is a Canadian music group. Lead singer Amaya (formerly Tara) and bassist Jay engage in happy banter about whatever happens to be on their minds. Then they end with a song. (Amaya has two very nice iPhones.) Superman Homepage - "Radio KAL" - Aug 18, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Radio K.A.L. is a monthly podcast affiliated with the Superman Homepage website. Steve and Neal give their take on the latest Superman news, covering the Smallville TV series, the comics, and the next movie. They are definitely fans, but they're also not afraid to criticize. smartbombradio's Podcast - Aug 17, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Funny stories, funny essays, and funny interviews! Will's podcast is funny! The episode-specific cover art is also super-cool. Too bad the cast is currently doing the hiatus thing, because it's a classic. Phedippidations - Aug 16, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Steve's long running podcast about running and marathon training is truly inspiring. He records many of the segments as he runs, and it's cool to hear him panting between words as his feet strike the pavement. There is a great deal of listener feedback, as well as music, and an occasional whimsical segment unrelated to running. kingbonk's Podcast - Aug 15, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Of all the outstanding storytelling podcasts I've encountered, this one is my favorite. Bonk's campfire tales of ghosts and childhood really stick with me. This cast has been on hiatus for many months but will soon be coming back. I can't wait! The Running Shoe - Aug 15, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bruce has been running marathons for a very long time, and his weekly live show covers every detail of training, from proper footwear to conquering all weather. As a one-time marathon runner, I can vouch for most of the info, and no one can complain that he glosses over the details. BUCKET - Aug 14, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yet another couplecast, but the only one with both Pail Mail and Monkey News. Jen and Corey are a young perky pair who talk about their lives, listen to voicemail, and end with a song. They also have a cat. kingbonk's Podcast - Aug 12, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Of all the outstanding storytelling podcasts I've encountered, this one is my favorite. Bonk's campfire tales of ghosts and childhood really stick with me. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Kevin does a brilliant weekly short essay (under six minutes) podcast in which he makes humorous reflections and observations on life. With such consistently well-written and professionally presented material, I'm amazed he's not on NPR. Cranky Geeks for the iPod Video - Aug 11, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Every week Dvorak and his fellow pundits discuss the latest tech news. The vidcast is basically a reinvention of Dvorak's Silicon Spin show from his TechTV days, but with a much darker set. Youngcast - Aug 10, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This podcast is currently in transition, so it's a bit difficult to describe. Will is a high school student in Manhattan, and his cast was originally conceived as a sort of round table session with his classmates in the library after school. Eventually, that sort of petered out, and his friends lost interest. Now he is focusing on his writing, which he does prodigiously as a blogger and writer of short stories. In his most recent episodes, he has presented some of his short fiction stories. He's no hack. He writes and presents well and is known to Mur Lafferty, who had him read some of her work at Balticon. At Home in China - Aug 10, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Veachs are an American couple residing in China. Each episode they interview a Westerner living there, including a single woman who adopted a Chinese baby and then moved to China, and a teenager working for free in a Chinese barbershop. My Marilyn - The Marilyn Monroe Podcast - Aug 10, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Melinda does a fan podcast all about Marilyn Monroe and covers such topics as collectibles, her life, her fans, and her music. She also conducts some fascinating interviews, often with people who knew Marilyn personally. My only issue with this cast is that it usually takes several minutes to get into the meat of the show. His mission in life is to protect the world from the personification of scurvy by promoting Jumex®. Nate and Di listeners will immediately recognize him from the cutting-edge on location news segments he used to do for their show. The Laporte Report - Audio Edition - Aug 9, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Can't get enough Leo? Sometimes he records when he's interviewed on the radio and uploads the audio to this little-known netcast, including the pre-on-air and post-on-air banter. If you're a true Laporte completist, (and who isn't?) then you must subscribe. Polarbear Podcast - Aug 6, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Anders has a podcast all about Sweden, including culture, language, history, politics, daily life, and the total lack of polarbears. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is a faux old-time radio drama about a pair of space rangers who patrol the galaxy with their inept computer looking for aliens to kill, so they can "lay claim to space for the American way". In reality they're more into talking than doing. The Babylon Podcast » Shows - Jul 26, 2007
Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This extremely well-done podcast on Babylon Five tackles the show episode by episode (one for each cast episode).
