So check this out:

I was surfing around on ebay, when I discovered Denpa voice records. I don't know much about them, but I'm tempted to buy one. They cost about $150, record in .WAV format, use USB, hold up to 1 Gig, and the icing on the cake... a wireless mic.

Meaning: You can plant this mic anywhere in a room and record on to your denpa.

search for "denpa" on ebay... there's tons of them... but I can't find more info / reviews / sound samples anywhere. the company has a web page http://www.denpa.com.tw/ but its not too helpful.

What do you all think?

I always get scared when where are no reviews for something, but I love new stuff. This does look intriguing, though.

i'm anxiously awaiting a review (too poor to pay for one w/o a review)

I have tried both the Denpa VT-50 and MP-38 as well as the wireless microphone. the VT-50 is very similar to the Olympus WM300 but includes a FM radio and the ability to use the wireless microphone and the components to record telephone.

the sound quality of these units is very good. I can send samples of this if you want.

they are for sale at www.techstyleuk.co.uk as well as on ebay

I just purchased the MP-38. Two issues so far:
1st (minor) The display is much too faint for my tired eyes.
2nd (major) When using the phone recorder feature, the optional AC-Adapter seems to generate enough interference to make recording impossible. Without the AC-Adapter, you'll burn through one AAA battery a day.

Otherwise, sound quality if great!

Hmm, I'd suggest trying some chargable batteries. On my quest to find a good set of batteries for my camera I came across a site where a guy did some extensive testing of the rechargable batteries and the chargers. The ultimate best results were the PowerEx MH-C204W charger and I forget the top brand of battery as far as the charge time and such goes, but the PowerEx batteries were up there.

I don't understand the need for a wireless microphone when you're using a digital recorder. A digital recorder is already so small, you may as well put the recorder itself where you need it, rather than having to worry about signal strength and batteries in TWO devices instead of just one.
