Hey everyone,

I'm going to be doing a current events comedy podcast with a friend and I want to find something that will let me do "sound drops" I already have a mixer and all that stuff but the problem I have I don't want to do hunt down the sound effects in the directory double click and it let it play.

Is there any hardware or software that will let you configure sound effects or antyhing like that on button press or something like that?

Thanks.

I don't do real time recording, but I would suspect that all you have to do is to set the recording source in your recording program to your computer's mixer. That way whatever sounds are played on the computer will be recorded, and you should still be able to record your mic input. Then make sure your mixer is set to allow for the recording devices you want.

I dunno if you have a budget at all, but you might try checking out the "Akai MPD 16" usb/midi interface. It's a 4x4 bank of touchpads that are completely assignable, and you can program literally any sound to playback with zero lag.

DJs use them in rock bands all the time (the one in Linkin Park uses, like, 10 at once) and I've been wanting one to play with for some time, but I always seem to find more important things to spend my money on ... sad.gif

There are other options for real-time sampling that you can just patch into whatever board or program you're using to record your show, but this should at least get you started looking in the right direction

Best of luck,
