Hey everyone, is there a way to check my spelling in the forums? THanks!
Kevin C Mason
Not that I know of

but then again there is no spell checker on earth that can help me smile.gif

I’m a lousy speller. (Fortunately, my grammar are good.) I can spell the same word three different ways on one page, and not even notice it.

So I compose all my messages in Word. Write ‘em in word, fix the spelling (automatically, for the ones I mess up the most), then just copy and paste it into the message. This is also handy on long threads where you want to quote from a lot of different messages.

I know that feeling! That's why I married a woman who could spell. wink.gif

That is good to hear but what about your grampa?

When I post on in safari I can use the mac spell check, but with firefox (on pc) I usually check the spelling Word. Actually, I don't typically check my spelling.

My co-workr told me that mispeling is a sine of inteligence. Not sure if I beleave him.

I wouldn't worry too much about spelling on forums. Heck. read a post from El Nacho. He's slowly creating a whole new langauge.

tis phun. no need for "spellcheck". thatd create too much concentrated work per post. but i think there's one in yer control panel thingie

For older versions of Firefox there is a spelling plugin that's nice. It's called Spellbound, http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/, but it doesn't work with the new version of Firefox. Hopefully there will be a new version soon. For IE there used to be IEspell, but I don't know if it's still around.

That is one of the reasons he's in my twit filter.

Like it or not, people judge you, and in this environment, one big thing they'll judge you on is spelling and grammar. Most of us are smart enough to know this is conversation, not literature, and not even notice the occasional misspelled word or lapse in grammar. But if you spell like an idiot through an entire post, people are going to think you are one.

You’ll see people claiming that not using any capital letters or punctuation or using atrocious grammar is a sign of their creativity. It's not. It's a sign they're an idiot.

I spell like an idiot, so I take the extra three seconds it takes to create my posts in Word and then paste them in. Two of those seconds are correcting the words that don't already autocorrect, and one second is to copy and paste it into the thread. (Four keystrokes that I've done so often it's automatic, like typing in the word "the.")

Click My Controls >> Options >> Board Settings >> At the bottom you can opt to use Rich Text Editor. Enable this, and viola. Spell Checker.

BTW: Safari is not supported.

*edit* Some other browsers may not be supported either. After re-reading I noticed that it support third party spellers without a lot of modification, but does not 'ship' with one. phpSpell is supposed to be a good candidate for most Invision installs.

I will often Joke that If I could spell I would be a writer and not a painter ............NAwww!

But the truth be told English is not a language that I'm good at .( my Japanese is only enough to not be rude while ordering sushi and to sound impressive to those who have no idea what I'm saying)

I can't tell you how many times I have got into all kinds of trouble with my emails and people getting the wrong Idea . (I blame bad Grammer , Bad spelling , and well Text sucks ... I do so much better with my voice ..... we should find a way to do Voice forum)

I'm using Forefox, I wonder if the rich text editor uses the Word tools. I'm going to switch to IE and find out....

Interesting, in IE there is a spell checker icon in the right corner of the composing window. It's not there in Firefox. The spell checker, for me, is IEspell which I installed in my version of IE. I bet if I had a spell checker in Firefox then I would see the spell checker icon there too. But I don't like IE!!! Looks like I'll use gmail for spell checking until Spellbound is fixed.

Weird. I just lost 4 postings in this forum about spelling!!!!!???!?!?!??!!!

Daryl, I'm having several replies merged together in one posting too. P. Dilly help!

Let's see if this combines them.

That's odd.

I wonder if this has something to do with the internet trying to become sentient, Christiana spoke of this at the last pickle party.

no no, if you post two posts right after eachother with no one else's in between, it combines them to avoid double posts. u can post now, and it wont stick it back up to that post...see watch

this is a new post im making, but because no one has posted after my last, the board will automatically add it in to save space, as there's no need to show my whole little box with avatar, info, sig, etc again. just sticks this message in where it belongs. rather handy, i think

Well it looks good.

Why doesn't Firefox show a spell checker inth Pickle composing window like IE does? Is it because I don't have a spell checker plugin loaded in Firefox or is it something else? Thanks.
