I just learned about a cool service yesterday called "iCall" (www.icall.com). It lets you use your computer to call anyone for free. You dial from the computer like Skype, but the call comes into the other person's telephone, which gets around the problem with Skype that the person you're calling has to be on the computer when you want them.
I'm thinking of using iCall for long distance interviews, to save money. Has anyone used it before?

Skype may not be free for calling phones, but it's just a bit over 2¢ a minute, which is pretty close to free.

Speaking of skype, I'm trying to put money into my account with a credit card, but it keeps failing. Any ideas why? The card works fine anywhere else.

Never tried iCall but I'm always leary of "free" utilities. Sure there's no hidden costs? How do they make their money?

That's the thing -- them making money isn't my problem. As long as the service works and I don't become too reliant on it (I can always go back to using the traditional telephone) it really doesn't matter if they go out of business.
