I've been playing around with a few off these applications and seem to like http://tribalshout.com the best.

Others make me download software to my phone and require me to stream the podcast over a slow data connection.

This one feels just like using my voicemail. I happen to use MyFaves on T-Mobile so I don't have to worry about my minutes. I've been playing with a very cool Helio Ocean but still find myself dialing their number 415-233-6900 to access content rather than using the built in browser. Debating on getting an iPhone but it doesn't sound like I will be able to sync up wireless to iTunes and thus get my podcasts in real time

I like the fact that Tribal Shout lets me create channels. They seem to be working on some different channels like politics. They also let you blog right from you phone by dialing a number and recording your own episode....then give you widgets to place on other sites like myspace.

Lots to play around with here but I want to see what others are using.

I totally want to, but I've got the wrong provider. You see, the LG Fusic phone has an FM transmitter built into it. You could download a given quantity of shows and beam them to your car radio from the phone.

Too bad Sprint is the only one that carries it. Verizon seems preoccupied right now with phones you can watch local TV on.

I have a Samsung u740 (yes the infamous dual flip phone), and like the Krazr and Rokr by Motorola, it does have good built in media player capabilities. Internal memory is around 50mb and god knows I'm not buying a microSD card to expand it. I could sync my phone via USB but I don't have the memory for larger shows.

Media delivery on phones is still cumbersome. I have Verizon and I felt like Vcast was a joke, I canceled my trial after two weeks. In general cell phone podcast content will always be a fairly small market.

I agree media delivery on phones are still cumbersome...trying to sync or manage memory has been a pain. That's why I found this Tribal Shout service pretty interesting. they seem to do everything on the backend and you just dial a number to access the content.

I also agree listening to syndicated podcasts over a phone my remain a fairly small market but when you inject user generated content and affinity groups around feeds then I think there is something to "mobile podcasting"

Dude, where'd you get a phone like that? Old School!

I was with mobilcast with my w600, but my BB pearl doesn't support mobilcast. I can use my memory card and (I think) podcast ready but prefer to keep entertainment and business separate.

Many phones now have USB mass storage, and you can add mp3's to your memory card and then listen to them through the phones built-in music player. I can do this on my LG VX8700 through Verizon. Note: Many Verizon phones do not allow drag-and-drop onto the memory card (the 8700 does with a USB cable). You can use a free application called BitPim and a USB cable to gain access to most of your Verizon phones features however.

Cingular/AT&T phones generally are much easier to do this with. I'm not sure with Sprint and T-Mobile.

If you're not in the US, most phones are unlocked and you should be able to do it. At the very least, you should be able to slip the micro- or mini-SD card into an adapter into our computer, and drag files into the appropriate folder that way.

All that said, I almost never use my phone to listen to audio. Phone calls and VZ Navigator directions only.
