I noticed last week that the Just Not Right podcast started a thread to talk about Jake's Daily Picks... and thought 'Hey, what a great idea'. Heck, maybe its tradition and I've never noticed... in any event, I'll keep it going. During the week, I’ll also share some of my other favorite podcasts.
So my pick for today had a podcast picture this last Friday when I sent P. Dilly my list of seven podcasts... honest. Brian Hardin started this podcast in January, 2006 and will read through the bible in 1 Year. Brian does an excellent job narrating. Each week he reads from a different translation so there’s always variety to the scripture. In each episode, he reads from both the Old and New Testament. I’ve really enjoyed listening to the Word of God on the Go… and thought it would be a great podcast to start the week off. -------------------- |

Today’s pick is The Music for Massage podcast by Steve Fish & Bobby Brooks of Fish N' Brooks Records.
I really like the Newest 100 feature on the Pickle and check it sometimes several times a day. I’m fascinated by all the diverse topics people podcast and wonder what new and creative idea is next. I found The Music for Massage podcast some where in the newest 10 or less the same day they published their first episode… checked it out, and was their first fan. They’ve got some GREAT music to listen too… so check ‘em out. I mentioned yesterday and in my latest podcast episode that I would share some of my other favorites... in other words, podcasts that are on my iPod every where I go. Some of the first podcasts I listened to includes Podcheck Review, Podcast 411, and Podcasting Underground. Not long after that, I found The Podcast Pickle Show at about show #40... and have been a fan ever since. I also listen to Pickle Tips and Today in Podcasting. -------------------- |

My pick of the day: If you haven’t listened to Short Cummings Audio… you’re missing out!
I met Kevin Cummings in one of the threads. How lucky was that? There’s always something funny and true too life in every episode. I’ve played his promo in my show and added a link on my web site… it’s that good. I really enjoy listening to his podcast towards the end of the day, when you could go for a quick pick me up. -------------------- |

Today’s pick is Grammar Girl’s Quick & Dirty Writing Tips… and I sure hope I don’t make a grammatical error in this post.
I also met Fogarty in the iTunes Review thread started by The Armchair President (quick plug for Pat). Her podcast is HOT right now on iTunes coming in about the top 30. This is a short 5 minute or less podcast on just what the name suggests… grammar tips. Listeners email in questions that Fogarty then answers… via the podcast. She’s getting up to 20 email questions a day from her listeners. Way to go! So let me share some more podcasts I listen too… Check out The Big Show, Digger’s Stories, The Eclectic Review, and You Are The Guest. -------------------- |

Hey Rob,
Thank you SO much for featuring Grammar Girl! I really appreciate it (and you just taught me that you can make text red). How cool is that?! Thanks again, Mignon -------------------- |

My pick for today is… Digitalslobpod.
I found this podcast a few weeks ago and glad I did. I really enjoy the techno music (a fan of Techno), but wasn’t too sure about the rest of the content at first; until I listened to episode #32, a “joyride down the Hallelujah Trail with veteran broadcaster Frank Cotolo on "Cotolo Chronicles.” I was hooked! Now I get excited every time I see a new episode from Curt. He’ll keep you laughing. Just goes to show you that you can’t judge a book by its cover. I really enjoy music and listen to pretty much anything. So naturally, I enjoy several music podcasts. Check out Acoustic Long Island, Eclectic Mix, and PDXBluescast (from right here in Portland, Oregon, where I live). Of course, no music collection would be complete without The Dead… so give a listen to Sunshine Daydream, and The Dead Show. Another podcast I’ve started listening too mostly because of the music is Dismay. This is actually a PodioStory but mixed in with a lot of music. It’s a very well done podcast. -------------------- |

To be honest, I saw Mignon do a similar thread when she was the guest pickler. I liked it, so I decided to follow suit. If it wasn't a tradition before, it looks like it is now. Cool! - Jake -------------------- Jake and Erin used to do a show together called Choose the Left, then Jake was alone, but now Erin is back and it's Just Not Right. Listen to the hilarious podcast about life in Salt Lake City, Utah. Humor, comedy, friendship, love, divorce and more. Listen. You might smile. http://notRIGHTpodcast.com em@il: jake.cordova@gmail.com |

My pick today is… Lifespring!
As a Christian Podcaster, it’s no shock by now that most of my favorite podcasts are also Christian podcasts. Lifespring is one of the best out there… certainly the best on Podcast Pickle. Steve has an amazing voice and does a really nice professional show. Steve was also the first person on Podcast Pickle to add me to their favorites… so I had to include him on my list as the Guest Pickler. In fact, I’ve even played his Promo on my show. In addition to Lifespring, I also listen to Bring it Home, In Touch with Charles Stanley, and Renewing Your Mind with R.C. Sproul. The one Christian Podcast I absolutely recommend, and would of included in my seven picks if they were registered with Podcast Pickle, is the Way of the Master Radio Podcast. Please take the time to visit www.wayofthemaster.com, and www.wayofthemasterradio.com. Thanks, Rob! To be honest, I saw Mignon do a similar thread when she was the guest pickler. I liked it, so I decided to follow suit. If it wasn't a tradition before, it looks like it is now. Cool! - Jake You're welcome Jake... and thanks to Mignon for giving you the idea to follow... that gave me the idea to follow... well, you get the idea... YEAH! Lets make it a tradition and encourage the future Guest Picklers to do the same... I've really enjoyed posting this thread this week. -------------------- |

And my final pick of the week is… Southern Pro Football.
You see… I’m a New Orleans Saints fan… and, well, this is the closest podcast I can get to the Saints (or so I’ve found so far). I just found this podcast in the second week of the 2006-07 season, and really like it so far because I can keep up with all our Southern competitors. I was hoping that I could have reported today that the Saints beat the Panther’s, but unfortunately we lost 18-21. Close game. I’ve been fond of New Orleans for my entire adult life. Just over a year ago I was deployed to New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina and got to stick around for Hurricane Rita. Oh… in case you haven’t looked at my bio… I’m an Officer in the Army National Guard. I can honestly say I’ve seen the best, and worst, of New Orleans. I’ve been to several Saints games in the Superdome, and witnessed absolute chaos and destruction at the Superdome in September of 2005. It was such a joy to see it in action again last Monday Night when we beat the Falcons. Hurricane Katrina has a little something to do with why I’m now a Podcaster and one day I’ll tell my entire story in my podcast. If you listen to my first episode “Why a Podcast about Mentoring”, you’ll understand a little about my story and why I’m podcasting and why I choose the subject of Mentoring. So if you get some time, I invite you to listen to that first episode. It seemed fitting to end the week on something about New Orleans, and the Saints. -------------------- |
