Shocking! I know it might be strange to hear from us again but when you have a fun movie like Star Trek to discuss, it brings all the crazies out to play. Did we love it? Hate it? Find Spock more yummy than ever before? WARNING There be spoilers within.

Sorry, it has been way too long since I’ve written up show notes and I am a little rusty. I promise we didn’t discuss Spock’s yumminess factor, though it was sorely tempting.

#59 - M is for Movie Review: The Dark Knight

Holy bikini shorts Batman! We are back with a new podcact. Nothing like a geeky summer blockbuster of a movie to get us in gear. (If you are keeping track of the numbers, you’ll notice that #58 is missing. We have one in the can but it still needs to be editted and since we wanted this one out right away, we didn’t think you guys would mind the confusion. The Joker gave us his blessing.)

Spoilers abound all over this podcast so if you don’t want to be spoiled, I’d hold onto this one until you make it to the theatre. Just a warnin’.

We are betting that a lot of you have seen The Dark Knight so please send us an mp3 or an email or post something to the blog to tell us what you thought of it. We would love to be able to discuss this again so please don’t be shy, tell us we suck, you know the drill.

Hi everyone. Chris here to explain a little bit about the recent, unexpected hiatus. As most of you know, I am working and studying for my PhD at the same time. This takes up a serious amount of time. Of late though, I have had to try to finish the work that I have left for my PhD and see about graduating, lest someone steals my data and I lose all chances of ever finishing my grad studies. So please excuse our lack of updates. We should be back though mid-June, hope to see you all then.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news...

Just on the off chance one of you hasn’t given up on us, we’re sorry to say that it doesn’t look we are going to get our act together concerning the podcast. We are pulling the plug.

We loved doing it and we miss it, especially the people we got to meet because of the podcast. Between family, work, various charities, somebody’s movie addiction, home, global warming, computer woes and the hotness of Christian Bale, the podcast sort of got lost on our priority lists.

We would like to take a moment to say a few things:

We had a split vote on Singularity. One of us liked it and one of us didn’t. We’ll let you guess which was which. But you should check it out if you like your science fiction sciencey and just check out PodioBooks.com in general. (Currently listening to In Search of #6 by Damon Timm; would highly recommend but it isn’t sci-fi or fantasy.)

If you are not watching Stargate Atlantis, you really should be. And we also like the new shows Reaper and Chuck (’cause it has Adam Baldwin!!! and it is funny too.)

Whenever you need a comic fix, visit ComicHunter.net. (They can find anything and we had to say something in parentheses.)

This isn’t goodbye, it’s ’til next time.

This one is going to sound a bit different because we recorded it live at the Owl’s Nest Bookstore in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Sorry folks, no feedback this week but that is coming soon as we have lots of great goodies in the mailbag.

This week, thanks to Comic Hunter.net, we are reviewing part one of Stephen King’s Darktower "The Gunslinger Born" by Robin Furth and Peter David (art by Jae Lee) and Army@Love by Rick Veitch (art by Veitch and Gary Erskine). This one is marked Explicit just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the feedback. Please note that we now have a new phone number because we let the old one expire.
#52 - S is for Summer Movies...

Yeah, I know that this is really, really late but when your parents come to visit, you can’t tell them to go away because you have a podcast to edit. I may be an awful daughter but even I’m not that bad. And if it makes you feel better, I’m missing Heroes as punishment.

But we are here to talk about all the great movies that are out there this summer and which ones we are really looking forward to reviewing for the show. Basically, we still don’t really know but we would like your input. If you have an opinion on what you would like us to talk about, send them on in. Or if you think that the idea of a monthly round-up show at the end of the month is the way to go, let us know that too. We NEED all the help we can get.

Thanks for all the great people who sent us feedback: Aser, Stu, Bob, Henk, and Ed. (Sorry if I missed someone.) Make sure you keep working on Singularity by Bill DeSmedt which can be found at Podiobooks.com as a free download.

#51 - S is for The Spaceys 2007...

It is our favourite time of year folks and I’m sure you are asking yourself what has taken us so long to get this one to you. Something this important, something this monumental, deserves care and consideration... and my computer decided to enforce its disk size as non-negotiable and forced me to do some spring cleaning before I could even start editing but that is completely beside the point.

We are here to celebrate the Spaceys. The Spaceys are the awards given by the Canadian Space channel for excellence in sci-fi entertainment. They have a selection of awards that are voter based and if you visit their website, you too can have your say on fun categories like "Favourite Kick-Ass Character" or "Fave Character You Love to Hate". As you can see, we take our awards very seriously up here in the North.

Thanks to Hank and Zack and all the others who sent us feedback. Make sure you keep working on Singularity by Bill DeSmedt which can be found at Podiobooks.com as a free download.

The miniseries, for people who think that movies are just not long enough. We have all watched them, loved them, don’t have the patience for them, whatever. We delve into some of our favourites: Dune, The Lost Room, etc. Some of our not-so- favourites (Earth Sea) and some we wish they had given the miniseries treatment (Tanya Huff’s Keeper series.) All the usual stuff.

#48 - A and 1 is for Our First Year Anniversary...

You would think that since this was the one-year anniversary show, I’d take special care and write really awesome, awe-inspiring show notes. That is somewhat not the case. But I assure you, the effort can be heard in podcast instead...yeah sure... Here, we offer you some of our favourite clips of the last year and they are all a touch off the wall. Hope you enjoy.

Remember, we would still like to get your recommendations on what to play during our music podcast so please keep sending those in. PodsafeAudio.com has lots and lots of podsafe music. Also, Singularity by Bill DeSmedt can be found at Podiobooks.com.
#47 - R is for Random Conversation...

This week we were lazy and decided to give you a piece of our world. A demonstration, if you will, of the way we converse on an everyday basis. It is very random and we have no idea what will come up... Well, I do but then, I just spent the last couple of hours editing it. We will leave it up to you to discover.

But I can tell you that we announced our next book selection: Singularity by Bill DeSmedt. It is an audiobook and it can be downloaded for free from Podiobooks.com. It is something a little different so I hope you all enjoy.

Thanks go to Florida Zack who let us know about Nathan Fillion’s new show, Drive. (It is on Fox so be careful about getting too attached.) And also to Bob who had some questions about the music episode we would like to do in a few weeks. The music we would like requested needs to be podshow friendly and we will need to be able to reference back to the artist in the shownotes. Basically, the less complicated, the better. Remember, we are lazy. ;) If you are not sure, a good place to start would be PodSafeAudio.com and you can take off from there. Let us know if you have any questions.

#46 - C is for Comic Review - New Universal and Scalped...

Hey guys, we are back! Thanks for the understanding, it was greatly appreciated but we are here tonight to talk about two new comics that can be found on your favourite comic book stand. If you don’t have a favourite comic shop, you should give ComicHunter.net a try. They are awesome.

This week, we have New Universal by Warren Ellis from Marvel comics and Scalped by Jason Aaron from Vertigo. Two very different reads and two split decisions. Here is an interview with Warren Ellis you might like to check out and one with the artist, Salvador Larroca, that gives a very nice preview of his gorgeous artwork.

Thanks go to Aser, Allison, Sydney, David and Florida Zack for their wonderful feedback. This week’s promo is for Really Big Things serial playing at Jack Mangan’s Deadpan Podcast. Don’t forget to get your music requests in for our all requests music show coming up in two or three weeks. The only stipulation is that the music needs to be podsafe. We’ll even do dedications to a loved one, someone you would like to love, or that celebrity you would love to love. So get those requests in and it should be a lot of fun.

#45 - Book Club - Storm Front: Book One of the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher...

Hey there folks, come sit around for another edition of our extra special bookclub. This week we discuss Jim Butcher’s Storm Front, which is the first book of the Dresden Files series. Harry Dresden is a private investigator and his major selling point is that he is also a wizard. Basically, we got mystery and the supernatural, what is not to love? Then throw in the new series that practically just premiered on the SciFi channel (Space if you are Canadian) and we are positively buzzed with glee.

We haven’t picked the next book yet but we will let you know once we know. This week’s promo is from Nobody Likes Brunettes in a Hamsterball which is a wonderful Veronica Mars podcast. Thanks to Mike from Nashville for the voicemail. Thanks to Sydney, Florida Zack, David Anderson, Aser, Curnir, Selganor Yoster, Stu, Epic Dewfall for the great emails. (If I’ve forgotten someone, I’m sorry and please let me know so I can fix.)

If you are familiar with the Dragon Page podcast, Slice of Scifi, Wingin’ It, etc, and would like to send along your well wishes to Joe Murphy, you can do so at 206-202-5179.

#44 - M is for Movies 2006 and 2007...

Gonna be a quickie show notes this week. We talk about movies. Movies. And more movies. When we run out of the movies we saw in 2006, we jump onto the ones we want to see in 2007. So that we don’t ruin the suspense, we will be posting the top choices into another post later in the week.

Thanks for all the great suggestions concerning your favourites. If you didn’t hear yours on the air, it is likely because we didn’t receive yours by the time we recorded this show. We will save it for our next feedback session. Also, thanks to Bob, David, and Sydney for additional feedback. This week’s promo is teaser two for the upcoming Billibub Baddings by Tee Morris.

#43 - V is for Veronica Mars...

Hey Scooby Gang! This week isn’t exactly what we promised but we wanted to give folks a little more time to get their lists in for favourite 2006 movies and most anticipated for 2007. Don’t you see we do it all for you?

Yeah, sure... this week we visit Neptune to discuss the most talked about question on everyone’s mind: Will Veronica and Logan ever work out their problems and live happily ever after? Ok, perhaps that isn’t one everyone’s mind and perhaps that isn’t exactly what we talk about but I’m sure it must have come up somewhere along the line. Mostly, we just have a few laughs concerning what has been happening this season so take that as a warning to anyone who doesn’t want to be spoiled.

If you are new to the world of Veronica Mars and like what you hear, make sure to watch the show on the new CW. Also, there are other Veronica Mars podcasts out there like the Nobody Likes Brunettes In a Hamsterball podcast. No feedback this week, we are saving it all for next, and this week’s promo is a teaser for the upcoming Billibub Baddings by Tee Morris.

Forums, voicemail is 206-202-4894, email is twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com.
#42 - C is for Comic Review - Crossing Midnight & Sandman Mystery Theatre Sleep of Reason...

Nah-nah! I betcha you thought this was going to be a Hitchhiker’s episode. Sorry, that would have been too predictable and would go against all directives provided by the Infinite Improbability Drive.

Instead, for the first show of 2007, we are starting a new comic review series. Our good friends at ComicHunter.net have been kind enough to provide us with some #1s. First up is Crossing Midnight (by Mike Carey) and Sandman Mystery Theatre: Sleep of Reason (by Jim Ney Rieber), both from Vertigo Comics. Two interesting reads and you will have to listen to see what we thought of them.

Thanks to Chris, Aser, David in CT, Bob, Gary from Ozpod, Roshen, Curnir, & Lynn from NB for the wonderful feedback. Luckily, Chris didn’t pick on me too much concerning last week’s outtakes show. No promo this week but if you would like to have your promo played on the show or know of one we should be playing, please pass that info along.

Remember, next week is our review of 2006 movies and what looks promising for 2007. Send along a list of your favorites of 2006 and we will compile a list of the listener’s top 10 or 5 or 2 or 0, depending on how many we receive.

This was going to be a post stating that there wasn’t going to be a show this week... but I couldn’t do it so you get an outtakes episode instead. Chris and I were unable to get our schedules to mesh so no recording time was to be had. But when I sat down to write that, I thought that we had to post something for New Years. It wasn’t right otherwise.

So here you go, something pretty simple and quick and I had a lot of fun putting it together. You will have to let us know if you really hate what I do here. No feedback or promos this week, those will be saved for next week.

Hey everyone... we were late again but I’m blaming the malls for this one. Not enough hours in the day, trying to get ready for Christmas, and battling evil on top of it, what is a girl to do? But we have a lot of fun this week, by getting into a little bit of everything. Heroes, Doctor Who, Torchwood, favourite childhood toys, The Simpsons, Antarctica, etc, etc... Just like Santa, we got something for everyone. To be honest, it is mostly a feedback show but I hope that doesn’t scare you away.

Thanks to Stu, Bob, Michael in Nashville for the great feedback. This week’s promo is from The Vintage Gamer and the super wonderful bumper is by SysTris aka Raequel from The Triscast Podcast. Remember, if you have your own podcast or a fan of a podcast that you believe is not getting enough promo-lovinâ, please let us know and we would be happy to play the promo on the show.

#38 - B is for Book Club: Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere...

Better a little late than never, I was having mic issues so the show needed a little extra work this week.... but it is now here and I present to you our take on Neil Gaiman’s world of Neverwhere. Plot, characters, mini-series vs. book vs. comic, it is all here. We get into it all.

Also, as promised, we recommend that you check out the Doctor Who spoof, The Curse of Fatal Death: Part 1 & 2, written by Steven Moffat. Our next book pick is Storm Front, Book One of the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Can’t wait to read it.

Thanks to Bob, Tricia from Ohio, and Roshen Rodesh for the great feedback. And welcome to Olga who has joined our Frappr map. Promos were the Up a Paddle podcast and the sometimes weird but amusing JamesPod.

We were thinking that it’s about time we spent some quality time with our favorite british superhero, Doctor Who. Basically, we the need to discuss what we think of the second season so far (up to episode 7, "Idiot’s Lantern" in Canada), Eccleston vs. Tennant, Rose, Mickey, favorite bad guys... the whole ball ’n wax. So if you haven’t seen up to "Idiot’s Lantern", you might want to skip or risk being spoiled.

This week’s promo is from KnitWitch and our super-fantastic-extra-wonderful bumper is from Tee Morris. Harold gives my heart so much joy, you have no idea. And lots of thanks to Julie for the feedback, it gave us lots to talk about and now I want my own droid.

Also, remember that next week we are discussing Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere so if you have any questions or comments on the book, mini-series, comics, etc... you know where to send them. And I don’t think you need reminding about our guest spot on Fanboy Smackdown, but if you haven’t yet, you should check it out.

We reviewed the movie Casino Royale and had some fun with the world of James Bond.

I know that the title is a little scary but please don’t be frightened because of it. We are not that girly, even if we tried. But we do discuss our ideal dream houses and what we really, really want. If Chris goes with plan A, she will get geek-karma points for a lifetime.

We have feedback from Henk and Anne. We discuss our forums, which can be found at the easy to remember forum.sofadogs.com, and we are doing a guest spot at Fanboy Smackdown next week (targeted release date Thursday, Nov. 30th). Also, Chris and I did a guest column for shebytches.com, which you should check out.

P.S. - I hope our American friends are having a wonderful Thanksgiving and get to eat lots of turkey and not get too trampled at the mall. Gobble-Gobble! "I’m a turkey. Kill me!" (5 pts. to anyone who knows where that quote is from.)

They can be found at http://z11.invisionfree.com/sd2gap/ and we are just waiting for some people to join in so we can get some good discussions going. We can even get into spoilers (as long as they are clearly labelled as such.) Can’t wait to see you there.

#33 - S is for Sick Chris...

Chris is sick this week so John, her other half, has stepped into her shoes and is kind enough to play the part of replacement host. So what you guys get is sort of a random, off-topic, discussion on all of John’s favorite things, like Patrick Stewart, Jackie Chan, Torchwood, Elizabeth Moon, etc... I’m too tired to list it all. But if you listen closely, you will hear a little bit of Chris in this one as well.

Oh, and John and I talk about a David Hewlett Amanada Tapping clip and if you haven’t seen it, you can find it here on YouTube. Another week without voicemails but we did receive a nice spooky story from Henk.

Boo! We hope we didn’t scare you too much there. :D This week, we get to talk about our most favorite holiday of the year... that is, until the next absolutely favorite holiday comes up. Mostly, our love of candy, dressing up, and a few ghost stories thrown in for good measure. Not to worry, we don’t try to be scary.

No voicemails this week but we do some email cleanup from Aser, Henk, Curnir, and Michael. Discuss the results on a certain legal binding agreement and the forum poll question is below.

Man your battle stations. Some strong debatin’ is going on this week.

We seemed to deliberate a lot on the basic darkness of Battlestar Galactica and we get into a lot of spoilers for the first three episodes of season three. Also, Chris and I need your opinion a listenerÃ??s email that we intensely debated. Once you listen to this one, I am sure you will all have an opinion. Make sure to send those in cause that would be very cool.

A little warning, I missed some bad words in the editing. I’m posting it as explicit but I hope it doesn’t cause you much trouble. Thanks to Aser and Michael in Nashville for the great voicemails.
#30 - B is for Book Club - Good Omens...

We are hitting the books again folks and this time we come through with our threat to discuss Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Those two are gods among the fantasy genre and we take a minute or two to discuss their masterpiece of collaboration. Thanks to Grahame and Curnir for the emails and Bob for the voicemail.

Our next selection is Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. And for the whole multimedia experience, this will include the book, the miniseries, and the comics if you got’em. So you have eight weeks to find the media type of your choice.

Also, we get into some other general tv stuff with some slight spoilers for Battlestar Galactica. Not to worry, I made sure to include a warning right before if you would like to skip. Speaking of, if you have any comments on what happened in the season premiere or the show in general, send them on in and we can include them into next weekÃ??s show which is all about our favourite space refugees.

The voicemail line is 206-202-4894, email twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com, or Odeo here.
#29 - O is for Off Topic...

This week, we were bad and didn’t feel quite prepared to discuss Good Omens. So instead of doing an appalling job of it, we decided to just do an off-the-cuff show about anything and everything.

And to get an idea of what we touched on: the moving blues, car buying, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, DVD buying, Stargate Atlantis, Full Metal Alchemist, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG-1, TV watching habits, David Hewlett, "McKay & Mrs. Mille", "Duet", Paul McGillion, evil genius Stargate writers, A Dog’s Breakfast, Heroes, The Dressden Files, Dexter, Doctor Who, a little more Battlestar Galactica, a little more David Hewlett, Cube, Treed Murray, Patrick McKenna, Traders... Bumper by Jon & Stu from Sofa Dogs.

That pretty much covers it. SCI-FI CANADIAN REMINDER: Doctor Who’s second season starts on Monday (October 9th, 8pm) on the CBC. And the third season of Battlestar Galactica premiers on Space Saturday night with a repeat performance on Sunday. I’m starting to feel very thankful for this year’s sci-fi bounty.

TwoTonysAndAPodcast - B is for the Glory that is Breakfast...

Hey boys and girls,

Tony from the Fanboy Smackdown Podcast here. Chris and Eliz... well... we all know that they are taking a much deserved break. What most of you don’t know is that the girls asked Tony and I to watch over the studio whilst they were lounging and eating Bon Bons. (Because, honestly... work? move? Do we really believe that?)

So we spent a few days making sure that their lingerie drawers were secure from any intruders, all of the porn on their hard drives was backed up, and that all of the beer purchased more than a week ago was properly disposed of.

So... by Saturday morning we were hungover and hungry. So we grabbed the iRiver and headed out to a diner to record a podcast.

I was also able to hack into their email and pull out some feedback from the past few shows. We threw our own promo in between the feedback. We’re promotion whores that way.

This one is all about the Glory that is Breakfast. So leggo my Eggo, sit back and enjoy...

#27 - L is for Librivox...

This week is brought to you....wait, these are the show notes not the intro to the show. So let’s get to it. This week I hijack the show in order to introduce you to Librivox. Listeners, this is Librivox , Librivox, these are our awesome listeners.

But seriously, in this episode, we listen to Paula Berinstein from The Writing Show interview Librivox founder, Hugh McGuire. And since we don’t want you all too get too used to listening to other people’s voices, we have four short stories that Elizabeth and I have recorded for Librivox.

Remember everyone, we are still looking for entries for our appreciation show. The deadline for submissions is September 25. You can send us a voicemail via Odeo or you can call us at 206-202-4894. Or for those of you who prefer to type your messages, then you can email us at twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com or post a comment on the boards at http://twogirlsandapodcast.libsyn.com. As always, thanks to BUDZ for the theme music.

Instructions for the appreciation podcast episode

Hi everyone, Chris here. We thought it might be a good idea to post instructions for appreciation show submissions. Well you know, in case you were interested in submitting something for us. Which we hope you are. In any case, here is what we are hoping you will do:

1. Send us an email or voicemail or leave a comment on the board (why not put it in this post even?) in which you tell us: how you found Two Girls and a Podcast, which episode you first listened to (if you can remember) and what made you decide to stick around.

-or-

2. Send us a bumper for the show. Basically the best would be an audio clip like you would send "This is [your name here], and you are listening to Two Girls and a Podcast" or some such variation.

-or-

3. Send a "This week is brought to you by the letter" and pick a letter.

Please note that you can do any of the 3 options or if you want, you can do all of them. (Personally I am hoping for a lot of 1 and 2). Another important note, these are only guidelines to give you ideas of what to send in. Please feel free to send us anything you want.

The deadline for submissions is Monday, September 25. We will be recording the appreciation episode on Tuesday. Remember everyone, Eliz wants you to make our inbox blow up. Think of how much fun it would be if you actually managed to do it!

Shall I be mysterious? Nah, the title is mysterious enough. Welcome to our outtakes episode and in honour of our six-month anniversary, we present to you six outtakes from the archive. The archive is kept in the basement so I hope you don’t mind the sound of a few drips and sloshes for added effect.

Sorry no promo this week. Nor do we have voicemail or feedback. That will all be saved until we come back from our little "non-break". (I will not use the word hiatus.)

Remember: send us those voicemails via Odeo or landline 206-202-4894.
#25 - W is for the Wackiness that is Weddings...

Inspired by true-life events, this week we discuss the fun and merriment of weddings. They are such a sober affair, that is, until we have a talk about them. And Chris is not a lush. We just want to make that clear.

This week’s promo is from the Warrior Ethos Podcast by our friend Aser. Thanks to Doug from the Geek Acres Podcast for the great bumper. This week’s voicemail was provided by Paul from Elk River, Aser, and CA Sizemore; email from Florida Zack.

Voicemail us via Odeo or you can pick up a phone and dial 206-202-4894. The little mouse at the communications centre will make sure we get your message. Or if you prefer text-based communication, you can send your email to twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com. Thanks to BUDZ for the theme music.

#24 - S is for the Fun that is Stargate...

I know that we promised a short show at the start but as you can see, it sort of didn’t happen. Anywho, how can someone be brief when it comes to Stargate? Impossible, I tell you and we discuss each and every one of the 200 shows... Just kidding. We discuss the 200th ep, aptly titled &"200";, and the movie, and the series in general, and a little bit of Stargate: Atlantis. (Heard mostly in the form of David Hewlett love.) If this only wets your appetite, you should visit Stargate Louisville for more podcast fun on the topic of all things Stargate.

We also discuss some of the stuff that has been happening on the boards and play a promo for Charlie the Beer Guy’s podcast, Speaking of Beer. And if you haven’t done so already, you should visit the website, SheBytches.com for some interesting articles. And perhaps leave a comment at FanboySmackdown.com. And that is it, we promise not to make you do anything else.

You can send voicemail, but only if you want to, via Odeo (thanks to Ian for our nifty new button) or through our voicemail line 206-202-4894. For email (which will also accept mp3s, cough!cough!), they can be sent to twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com. Thanks to BUDZ for the theme music.

Not to worry, no devils were harmed in the making of this podcast. But we do get into the details of our upcoming hiatus and dole out some info concerning our upcoming shows.

To be honest, this normal looking podcast is just a front for a really great feedback episode. We have voicemails from Henk, Aser, Ian and Tony and some wonderful emails. This week’s promo is for the Geek Acres podcast who was kind enough to sign our Frappr map. (We apologize for the awkward transition.)

You can send us voicemail via Odeo or through our voice mail line 206-202-4894.
#22 - C is for the Cheezie 80’s...

Back to the Future... er, I mean, back to the eighties: they were the days of big hair, leg warmers, and that crazy blue eye shadow. Freaky. We take a few minutes (about twenty) to discuss our favourite cheezie moments in 80’s history. Knight Rider, MacGyver, Road House, etc. But I’m sure we have forgotten a few good ones that need to have their moment in the sun. Send them via all the usual routes (email, voice mail) and we will make sure they get their due.

This week’s promos are Random Signal and The Babylon Podcast. We also take a few minutes to decide what to read next in our little book club and it is Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. (I love this book so if you have not read it yet, I highly recommend.)

Got any questions (why does it hurt when I pee?!) or comments? We would like to hear them and we have a phone line for just such a purpose. It is 206-202-4894. Or if email is more to your liking, we have a mailbox as well. It is twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com. Don’t forget the Frappr! Map. Have fun and play safe.

Ok, yeah I am the pathetic kind of person who just loves turning another year older. I don’t like presents really, but I do love hearing people say Happy Birthday. So please make me all happy today and leave me loads of happy birthday wishes.

And in case anyone was wondering, I have just turned 30. Yay! Starting up a new decade. Life is wonderful.

Did I mention that I love birthdays?

#21 - B is for Book Club - Ender’s Game...

We are hitting the books again and in this session, we discuss EnderÃ??s Game by Orson Scott Card. If you don’t recognize OSC’s work, you may know him as the author who wrote a really great review of the film Serenity. Yep, he is that cool.

So we discuss what we liked, didn’t like, favourites and the what-nots with a lovely email from Curnir to spur on the dialogue. Also, you get two promos this week: I Should Be Writing and The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd. We couldn’t decide which to go with so you get both. Thanks for the voicemails from Aser, Curnir and Karen from Kalifornia.

You too can hear yourself on this podcast (you know you want to) by dialling 206-202-4894 or sending us an email at twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com. Or follow the twinkling stars to use Odeo to easily send us a voice comment. Theme music is by BUDZ and they can be found at PodSafeAudio.com.

#20 - H is for Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival...

Get ready for something a little different this week. We talk about the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival that takes place in our hometown of Fredericton, New Brunswick (Canada.) I attend every year and Chris plays interviewer to get the goods on this brilliant event. You may hear more about the festival in the upcoming weeks so this is a good intro for anyone who has never heard of it.

We received some really great voicemails and feedback so that is why this week’s episode is a touch longer than normal. But considering how much Chris and I like to talk, we take all the blame. This week’s promo is the Downshiftme podcast and the hosts, Matt and AJ, have finally moved to Nova Scotia so all of us Canadians need to send them a great big welcome. Thanks to Tee Morris for making us our very first bumper. You rock!

Comments, comments, and comments: voicemail us at 206-202-4894, use the Odeo button to record a message through your computer’s mic, or email those comments to twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com.
#19 - M is for Movie Review: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest...

Don’t you just love summer movies? They are amusing and we figured it was about time we did another movie review. The fearless, cunning, and slightly insane, Captain Jack is back in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. It wouldn’t be summer without a Johnny Depp movie. The free AC didn’t go amiss either.

WARNING: Argh! There be spoilers to be found after about the first ten minutes. But we give you plenty of warning before we get to those so please do not blame us for our spoilerific tendencies.

This week’s promo is the Podculture podcast. Also, thanks to Yahoo! Podcasts for featuring us on their frontpage.

#18 - H is for Everything Else Harry Potter...

Well, it is looking like the second time is the charm for us this week. After a computer snafu, due to a loose nut behind the keyboard (Eliz), we lost version one. I am sure we did not leave anything out the second time around.

We get into more of the Harry Potter questions and have a fun debate on which characters we think might live and die in book seven. Not that we know, of course... no, of course not. Henk’s opinions website on magic systems and more can be found here. Promo is by The Fanboy Smackdown Podcast. Also, our next book club selection will be Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card.

Next week, we will be discussing Pirates of the Caribbean II: Dead Man’s Chest and we would like you to send in your movie reviews/opinions. Voicemail them to 206-202-4894, click on the handy-dandy Odeo botton on the right side panel, or email them to twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Chris is going to be visiting Michael & Evo’s Wingin’ It this week. It should be a lot of fun so make sure to check it out (estimated air date is July 18th or 19th.)

This week’s book club meeting ran quite long, so here is part one of two. Basically, we discuss the book, debate a few finer points, get into questions and a little bit of trivia (thanks Debbie!) Promo is by Ian the Ranting Scotsman and it is very cool.

So we hope you don’t mind the breaking up of the show. This way, we get to still include all of your the emails and feedback. Expect to see part two in a day or two.

Sorry folks but our episode #17, which is a love fest of all things Harry Potter (just kidding!) is going to be a little late this week. Both Chris and I have have been travelling and we somehow recorded twice (literally) the amount for one typical episode. So, all factors considered, it has been a challenging week to get this puppy edited up.

But never fear, we will have something for you tomorrow.

In the meantime, please take a minute to vote in our brand spankin’ new poll. I’m sure you will all side with me, just wait. If you have suggestions on future poll questions, please send them to twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com.

Also, if you are a LiveJournal user and have been avoiding the whole subscription thing, you can now add twogirlspodcast to your friends list and you will be notified of new episodes/announcements as they happen. Or as soon as the LJ aggregator picks them up. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. :D

#16 - S is for Summer, Glorious Summer...

Here is our "short" show about summer and what makes it special for us: swimming, camping (in an indoor camp sort of camping), drinking, and all that jazz. Plus, as an added bonus, you get to hear a few of the things we don’t like about it: like our inability to tan.

Also, we have some interesting feedback to talk about this week:, Tony from Fanboysmackdown.com and Dani from NC dropped us a line. Not to mention a couple of emails that made us feel compelled to read and discuss.

Don’t forget, next week is Book Club week where we will be discussing Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Sorcerer’s Stone if you are in the US). Get your comments in early and we will play them on next week’s show. The voice mail line is 206-202-4894 and our email address is twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com. And for a new cost efficient alternative, visit the site and click on our Odeo button. All you need is a mic connected to your computer and you can leave us a voicemail for free. Give it a try. As always, theme music, ’Out Behind the Juke Joint’, is by BUDZ and they can be found at PodSafeAudio.com.

#15 - T is for Television is Dead...

This week we discuss the state of world affairs ... or actually the state of television. We are a little down about it because we found out the date of the Canadian premier of the second season of Doctor Who. I guess we can blame this podcast on the Doctor; he has broad shoulders, he can take it. Or the CBC but we are not sure about the state of its shoulders. We get into why we havenât turned the tv on in over a week and other little fun stuff.

Not to mention, fun with voicemail. If you would like to hear yourself on the air, leave a voicemail (206-202-4894) or send us an mp3 directed at twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com.

Welcome to the inaugural meeting of our cozy little book club where we discuss Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the greatest book of our time! Well, a highly entertaining one at least. We discuss our favorite parts, compare it to the various movies that have tried to do the book justice and our attempts to recast a few of the characters. Nothing too heavy.

Next up, Harry Potter and the Philospher Stone (Sorcerer’s Stone for those in the US) by JK Rowling and recommended by our favorite chef, Johane.

Hey, it is our favorite day of the year, Movie Day!! Okay, so we might not have seen the movie on the same day and we might have recorded this and waited a couple of days to post it but that is beside the point. But is there a better sign of summer than the first summer blockbuster of the year?

So, 2006’s first sign of summer is The Da Vinci Code and we had to take a few minutes to discuss. Who is your acting god? What do you think about the politics behind some the of interesting ideas put forth in this movie/book? Leave us a voice mail at 206-202-4894 or send us an email at TwoGirlsAndAPodcast @ gmail.com or stop by the message board at twogirlsandapodcast.libsyn.com.
There are two types of people in this world: those who have seen the movie Rocky Horror Picture Show and those who have not (or won’t admit that they have.) Is there a greater truth to be found in this song and dance number? Heck if we know but if you can enlighten us with your opinion, please send them on. Or you should at least check out the official Rocky Horror Picture Show website for some great downloads, forums, or info like history and profiles. Announcement: In four weeks time, we are going to read and then discuss Bram Stoker’s Dracula. You are welcome to join us if you like in our little impromptu book club. Also, if you have any suggestions as to what we should read for our second book, send them along.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain...those darn peeping toms... Just kidding. We get into the fun of dining alone in restaurants or at home. Not to mention, the fun of cooking for one person. And please, no making fun of the contents of my freezer. We also throw in a couple of our favorite recipes and if anyone has any for peanut butter dishes, please send them this way. Enjoy! The Spacey Awards, brought to us by the wonderful people at the canadian sci-fi channel Space, include some categories that get decided by the fans (so go vote by May 8th--vote early, vote often). We thought we would like to have our say concerning who/what we thought was deserving in the previous year. Movies, TV, there is something here for everyone. Warning, contains a couple words that might not be considered family friendly by all (not anything you couldn’t hear on CBC.)
