There’s a change of plans for the podcast this Summer. The Summer of porn is called off for a few reasons. First, interviews fell through for the first couple of weeks. Second, interest in Podcasting for Water has grown. Seems like God is telling me to pursue the issue of clean water over dealing with porn. That’s not to say I won’t address issues or news when it comes up.
I joked around about some statements made on The Jen and Dave Show and Two Blind Squirrels. They may need an intervention.

I’m breaking my cone of silence this week to bring you this great news!
First a little background info - Dave Avila over at The Jen and Dave Show has been coveting Taylor Kent’s Elvis cup (Snark Infested Waters). So, Taylor said if Dave could get 10 people to call into the voice mail line and tell Taylor to give Dave the cup, he’d do so.
Then, Taylor sweetened the deal and said if 100 people called in, he’d give Dave BOTH cups.
Now, Taylor has pledged $1 for every voice mail (up to $100) to my Facebook cause, Podcasting for Water. This is a very generous offer from Taylor and I’d love to see his pledge completely fulfilled.
So here’s what I need you to do:
1. Call 507-573-4612 or Skype taylorkent
2. Say, “This is [your name] and I want Dave to have the Elvis cup.”
3. Call by midnight (CST) June 30th

I asked Jeffrey Hite of Great Hites to record this for me so I could spend more time thinking about rehabilitating my ankle and he was gracious enough to do so. Thanks also to his wife, Ann, who jumped in front of the microphone with him. If you haven’t already, checkout his podcast. You’ll hear a lot of great short fiction there.
The song sung at the end of the podcast is The Minstrel Boy, an Irish traditional song that was also sung my soldiers during the American Civil War and World War I. You may have heard it being sung on Star Trek: The Next Generation by Miles O’Brien played by Colm Meaney in the episode titled “The Wounded”.

In this week’s podcast I talk about my plans for the Summer.

At 12PM EST I hosted a conference call to pray for our nation. Paul encouraged us to pray for our leaders in 1 Timothy 2:1,2 so that we could “lead a peaceful and quiet life.”
President Harry Truman first declared a national day of prayer in 1952. In 1988, President Reagan signed a resolution in 1988 to observe the National Day of Prayer each year on the first Thursday in May. This year’s declaration was introduced on May 4, 2009 under HR 397 and was sponsored by Rep. Randy Forbes (R-VA).
